Some very wise words from a Lady long deceased, written before 1943, on page 10 of her first successful book;
"My dear fellow, who will let you?"
"That's not the point. The point is, who will stop me?"
Today we can answer that question.
Every politician supported by an obedient police force and lead by an insane environmental philosophy. Broadly, our society has accepted the idea that the legislators of this world have the ability and the obligation to control the weather when In fact, intelligent human being have always had the ability to assess a problem and build something that will reduce natural forces to something not to be feared.
Again broadly speaking, We accept guilt for exploiting nature, the very thing no living entity can avoid if the choice is to live. Life is a process of self-sustaining action, using things found in nature. Be it plant or animal, something dies for you to live.
And humans are the only creature on earth that askes for approval to live from other humans. As you have written elsewhere, 80% of the people on this earth are systematically held in poverty by an idea that only those who wear a green halo may use unlimited energy.
Very grateful for your comment, Tom. You found us immediately last December.
We think it's overly generous to put us "among the leading contributors" to this discussion. We have no professional writing experience, and are still really new at this. But, we appreciate the vote of confidence! And we will constantly strive to improve.
I’ll nominate a future award winner-the state of CA. Plans are underway to completely outlaw the diesel motor by 2035. And they think they will transport 10MIL containers off their ports each year with electric trucks? Right....
That's totally doable, except 2035 is too early, maybe 2050. They won't be able to if they keep wasting batteries on nutty wind & solar energy storage or low value light vehicles. And we need to because diesel is going to be in short supply. World economies run on heavy distillates, light distillates like gasoline, are of low value to an economy. Replacing gasoline with electricity will put further pressure on diesel supplies.
With Granholm you should also refer to her Ev tour to prove they work with her Praetorian guard preceding her and blocking access to the only active chargers thereby pissing off her actual supporters, the first adopter free riders.
That one was hard not to include..... just outside the cut. We judged her supporting the idea of converting all US military vehicles to EVs by 2030 beat it though.
Took my son out of middle school 5 - 8 grades to take him up there for a week each year. School thought I was crazy.
My friend chuckled, said, "you'll learn way more about how the world works up here than you would've in middle school for 5 days."
We showed him where the durum wheat in his pasta comes from, how it's planted, harvested, dried, stored in grain elevators. He got to see a Warren Buffet train carrying tar sands oil out of Ft. Mac. He got to see geologists setting charges exploring for potash, and learned why potash was important. He watched crews lay pipe for natural gas.
He got to see the incredible waves of waterfowl and learn why they stage on Rice Lake (Delisle) and Goose Lake (Laura) in Sept./Oct., learn their daily patterns, behaviors and life cycle needs.
He got to meet incredible, genuine, proud, happy, self-reliant farmers and cattlemen. It was deeply formative. Our friend there is a top waterfowl guide in central SK (also big game guide up on Tobin Lake in Nov/Dec and for spring bear). And a super person. Lives a couple clicks uphill NW of Pike Lake Provincial Park. If you ever have someone looking to do either with a good lodge, good food, good equipment, hundreds of square miles land access, he's your guy.
Yep. We chose not to use the video for the piece but saw it the day after it occurred. Put those Rangers in charge of security at the museums with precious art in Europe and there won’t be any more Teresa Heinz John Kerry soup thrown on Van Goghs.
BRILLIANT listing!!! Brav-O!!! Your mix of great writing, a wry sense of humor and irony, and the always-impressive empirical datasets are truly on display here.
I await your blog posts with great anticipation every month, here's to whatever you've got in store for us in 2024!
Nay, credit where it is due. While there's always room for (some) improvement in all things, don't change a thing structurally, because those bones are rock-solid, and that dog will hunt!
How do we refer nicely to a woman who has wiped out 99.9% of all species she has ever created on earth?
Is there a warm fuzzy term for that?
What the climate/insane hate most of all is that we have beaten her back and back, she has tried so hard to wipe us out for millions of years, to think we might be winning drives them nuts, hence all the “just you wait, it’s coming, she will FILL IN BLANK HERE)
Notice i say, we are winning, for now, not that we won as we will never win. Declaring that would cause her to fire a meteor ten times the size of Yucatán at us.
I can spell hubris.
Anyway, the only real danger to human civilization remains climate change policy.
Climate change, co2 increase (whatever the cause) has been entirely beneficial to this point, the social cost of carbon is ~$-200 or more, massive benefit no matter where you look.
OUTSTANDING!!! That said, I was disappointed algor and his lackey jkerry failed to appear. Perhaps next year, a "bozo the clown" award for the politician who made the biggest fool of himself on the greenie stage
Love it. They were all so deserving!

It is time to turn over this apple cart.
First successful book. (The two that came before it while not commercially successful were great, too). :)
Your substack was among the first to grab my attention for your content and writing skills.
You have been among the leading contributors for an intelligent and erudite discussion on climate, energy, science, etc.
The humor is much appreciated too!
Keep up the fine work. You have a faithful follower here.

Thank you!
Makes "Dumb and Dumber" characters look like Einstein.
Next article needs to be the 2023 Eco-Logical Awards.
Hmmm. Award things that are cost/benefit justified that have more than a snowball's chance in hell of actually achieving a worthwhile objective?
Excellent compilation of some of today’s best examples of mass hysteria and mental illness.
Keep up the good work!
We wish they'd just stop giving us material......
Thanks!
Love your work...please keep it coming!
Very kind. Thanks!

It is possible we could dedicate an entirely separate yearly set of environMENTAL Awards to CA.
But, NY or MA would complain for being left out.

Actually, back in Saskatchewan we say “f**king Aaa”.
Like Monday when the Trudeau liberals were smacked down by a federal judge on their illegal use of the emergency act.
In response to someone proposing utter nonsense like net zero grid by 2035, the proper response is “f**k that noise” or FTN.
Regional dialects can be difficult to get.
Glad to be of service.
And I know it’s no longer PC to refer to the climate/insane as mentally retarded. The clinical term is “neurologically delayed”.
Such as many referred to above.
Don’t shoot the messenger.
We just finished texting our close friend in RM Vanscoy 345 about an hour ago.
Our favorite regional dialect in that area: “OK” always sounds like “Ogay” to us. We come back to the states and carry it with us for weeks.
We effing love the rural folks of SK and AB. Our favorites on earth.
Will be in Vanscoy in March after the Brier
Visit some mines

Paiute tribal police show the world the appropriate way to deal with climate vandals and their ilk:

Thank you. As a bird dog guy, the compliment has extra meaning!
Fabulous. It was great fun to re-live those precious moments from last year! What a treat.
Such a good year that John "climate" Kerry didn't make the top ten!!
It was hard to leave out Kerry and Canadian Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault!!!
Thanks!
Guilbeault is for 2024 for not grasping that even if we had 1000 times as many renewables in Alberta on January 11, they would all still be zero.
Any number times zero is zero.
Mark it down now.
We would not take odds he won’t do something profoundly more stupid in 2024 than he did last year.
I had not heard of this pre-COP summit called "She Changes Climate." Are we referring to the sun as "She" now?
Ha! Gaia is, so make sense, right.
Mother Earth.
Grandma Sun?

Gaia, the female dog trying to maul us? Something like that.

There’s always next year…
But we’d be pleased if those clowns and Greta never show up on our pages again. (We wouldn’t bet on it though…)
Neither would I, which is why I will keep rrading.
algor! Took me a minute.
What a great review. Thanks!
Thanks. Some levity helps in these situations.
