I've been writing weekly since July 2020, just published my 456th issue on top of 20+ podcasts and 10+ additional interviews. One after the other, time flies!
I have happily recommended environMENTAL to the few friends I have who use their brains for more than figuring out how to make a meat-free protein bowl.
I sounds more callous than I really am. It's unfortunately true for me at least that my small cadre of friends are mostly unthinkingly regurgitating whatever they see on CNN or the "news" that pops up on their Insta/FB pages. I have had a habit of becoming friends with people who are exceptionally gifted or practiced in one area or other. Some defect in my character causes me to somehow look up to my buddies' abilities and seek out very intelligent or adept people to spend time with. But most are captive to clouded thinking.
I know some very smart, well educated people for whom if its not on CBC, BBC, NY Times etc it doesn't exist.
Some aren't even aware Substack exists, that there is a "twitterfiles" with all the censorship it revealed.
When i point this stuff out they recall.
I remain convinced that the only real danger to our democracy and civilization are those that seem to think its ok for the government to decide what we can see and read.
Unfortunately, they should not be allowed to vote until they understand it.
I agree completely. Most of the smart people I know are modern urbanites who hold anyone whose views differ from theirs with outright disdain. But there are some who at least are accessible to reality because the effects of their pat worldview seems to be turning to shi... I see it in my own home.
The problem IMO is that garden variety liberals suspect everything conservative of being oppressive to someone. These folks follow people who they see as reasonable (but all are straight up liberals, just slightly less ridiculous) who themselves critique conservative views and people, allowing lib politicians and absurdities to skate by. It's all predicated on the idea that liberalism is rational and conservatism is not, or at least is racist/sexist/blankist. If you believe that liberals are better people and care for others while conservatives are just worse, then you're pretty well stuck.
I am not a subscriber but as a well known global -macro analyst I am looking to piggy -back onto another substack producer with the hope of monetizing what I have been giving away for many, many years---contact me at yrah53@gmail.com for potential opportunities----Yra Harris
1. "suck at social media" is not necessarily a bad thing! My kids won't allow me to have any sort of social media account. (apparently they don't believe I would be worth bail money.)
2. You mention an essay by Bari Weiss as your inspiration. Is there any possible way you could share a link for that without violating copyright laws or other ethical dilemmas?
3. Your premise that current energy policies "could be a human prosperity disaster in the making and an enormous waste of resources, will achieve virtually nothing to alter the trajectory of climate change, will cause more harm to the environment than it reduces, and threatens to condemn the world’s poorest to misery" is spot-on, zero-error bars correct.
2. Bari’s was the first we’d heard of Substack. The article that “wowed” us was a Doomberg piece! (It would have been end of May 2022.)
3. We will correct that statement when and if warranted. Happily.
4. We will be a pokin’. But, we will also start to weave in stories of smart new energy and environmental innovations, compliment Charlaticians when they do something good, etc.
No, thank YOU for your wonderful, insightful and educational content! You are among a growing number of brave souls who dare to question the idiocracy in the "Green" space, and you do it with great wisdom, poise and great sense of humor.
Keep 'em coming, because you're making a dent in their machine, one that will lead to the cracks that will become its eventual undoing.
Enjoy the fishing, be sure to throw all the 3-eyed ones back....
I want to congratulate your team for hitting an impressive milestone in your Substack journey. Your group presents an important voice in the energy debate that is not clouded by political incentives or feel good narratives. The public needs to hear stone-cold facts about what is probably one of the most important topics of our time, namely - how to provide the masses with the cheapest, most reliable energy so that they may thrive? Your writing style is bright, brief, and entertaining. Keep doing what your doing and enjoy the much deserved fishing trip.
Congrats on a year. Consistency is key! 💚 🥃
Thanks but we have 6 more weeks and 3 or more posts to go before our official one year anniversary!!!
Oops, screwed up my napkin math.

What you do is important, hopefully this continues to grow, there are so many with absolutely no clue about how badly you are being mislead.
You, Bryce, Doomberg, you are all indespensable

Thanks.
“ use their brains for more than figuring out how to make a meat-free protein bowl.”
Good one.

Have a great vacation!
Thanks, Lee. May post some scenery pics to Notes.
I'm not sure when I saw you on Substack but I've been a fan for quite some time now.
Keep up the great work! I'm sure it's a labor of love to keep going.
Best of luck with the fishing expedition. We have some great fishing here in Colorado.
Thanks! Plan to hit CO in next year or so for that very purpose!

4. Keep pokin' the bear.
Thank you for your work.
1. It would help us if we ever figure it out.

Thanks. The laws of physics and economics do not yield to ideology.
Let’s hope it lasts.
