And Ruffalo is a pseudo intellectual in the standard of Justin Trudeau.

A dolt, a ninny with a cluttered mind.

Cook and the head of the UN are the main spreaders of misinformation on the internet and media.

When do they get arrested?

HULK HATE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR & IS LIAR LIAR LIAR. The campaign launch includes a video marking the historic shutdown of Indian Point, featuring actor and activist Mark Ruffalo, musician and poet Ani DiFranco, and advocates who have been leading the movement. Great post. Had not seen that.

Points 1 & 3 of Renee Vogelsang’s “3 Important Points” and Paul Gallay’s claims specifically about them were either ignorant, malevolent, or both.

Either way, the closure and idiot comments are clearly coming back to haunt them in terms of $/MWH, reliability and CO2 emissions. Empirical evidence has made that crystal clear.

The CCDH and John Cook et al are clearly the ones fomenting hate.

Brilliant article and timely. I just talked about this on my weekly YouTube video. As one of the “96” I was pretty excited to be named with such luminaries as Jordan Peterson and John Stossel. All publicity is good publicity and they spelled my name correctly and linked to my channel! Thanks MI6.

Thanks. If we end up on that list if or when CCDH and Cook update this report, we'll know we're over the target.

Reminds us of the 1980's Billy Bragg tune "Waiting for the Great Leap Forward":

"Here comes the future and you can't run from it

If you've got a blacklist I want to be on it"

This is a fabulous trip down the potholed lane of progressive wacko leaders (more than slightly aligned with the social justice scolds) and their desire for absolute uniformity of thought combined with a paucity of actual knowledge. It's not surprising that smart (or in Ruffalo's case completely not smart) but uncurious mouthpieces constantly hector us unwashed people on our sins and lies. What is always in play are little factoids produced by captured NGOs and universities spouting misinformation, knowing it will be broadcast by social media darlings who never saw a smear of rationality they didn't like.

Thanks. Your first sentence ("...with a paucity of actual knowledge) reminds us of a graph we used in our introductory piece we titled "The Renewable Energy Transition Dunning-Kruger Effect". https://envmental.substack.com/p/environmental-energy-and-economics

Your last reminds of us a quote commonly attributed to Twain but others argue Jonathan Swift alluded to it differently but effectively the same: "A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on."

Excellent. I remember well the Dunning-Kruger missive. It's what caused me to join your rogues gallery of readers. As for the Twain quote (it's always the way with the great commenters on man's existence that attributions to them are made because how could that wordsmith NOT have said that!) I hadn't realized that my construction had a similarity to the great man's. Maybe I need a great mustache and a southern gentleman's suit

Nice piece guys…. Here’s my solution, make STEM degrees free and degrees in anything resembling social science hugely expensive, with no loans available. I’m amazed at what passes for a climate scientist these days.

Expand full comment

Thanks. Interesting solution. In the same way that tort reform is vehemently resisted by the Bar, we expect your solution would meet with a tsunami of resistance from the social science mavens. But it would sure cut down on a lot of the present parasitic mind viruses (a Gad Saad term) and luxury beliefs.

I just finished Rob Henderson’s book on luxury beliefs. What a great concept.

Perfect!

“ Is Ruffalo’s X post “misinformation, disinformation, or malinformation”? Is this a form of hate speech?! These rhetorical questions are a nice (and ironic) segue to the CCDH report itself.” Rhetorical is so polite! I’m not.

I’ll call bulls*** on all of it, and the esteemed scientific genius academics that I’ve never heard of either. Never heard of Mark Ruffalo, or any of the other Hollywood experts, but I can identify an effort to gag any opposition to the crap these hucksters spew.

Keep up the good work environMENTAL!

Excellent article. The DHS's Minstry of Truth was defeated but keeps rearing its ugly head. Marxists never quit trying to advance their agenda--worldwide communism--they just keep changing the camouflage. I suggest reading "Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America."

Outstanding post, sirs/ladies! Thank you.

A couple of comments. First, “CCDH” is mislabeled. It should be “Center for Creating Digital Hate.” Perhaps that is more an observation than comment.

Second, I wonder where Martin Durkin’s and Ted Nelson”s new movie (Climate: The Movie Cold Truth) will fall on SkS radar. Maybe like an incoming ICBM over Nova Scotia? For those who haven’t heard/seen this piece, it is well worth the hour and a half to watch. Below is a link:

The final words of this movie are profound, and very much relevant to your current essay as well as Doomberg and a recent essay from David Friedman (Murthy v. Missouri):

There is a suspicion, perhaps even realization, that climate change is an invented scam, driven by self-interest and snobbery, cynically promoted by a parasitic public establishment, hungry for ever more money and power, an assault on the freedom and prosperity of the rest of us.

Thanks again. Outstanding piece

Always a good read.

I have an X account but mostly use it as I used Drudge or a newspaper. Any thoughtful interaction is useless.

I use Substack as I would magazines or books. I so enjoy the content of way too many authors. The comments are almost always civil and some offer even more interesting content.

Substack is my morning rabbit hole, that I throughly enjoy diving down. Just wish I were rich and could afford to subscribe to everyone here that I enjoy. Alas, it's not possible so I try to repay by sharing and encouring others to come to the platform. 🙂

Excellent column! I was studying the Old Denier/New Denier chart to see where I might fit in. I suppose I'm in the camp of: Not only do I not deny climate change, but I wholly endorse climate change. I'm willing to do whatever I can to help stave off the next cooling phase and ice advance.
